The Bad and The Beautiful

Just as Paul Walker's movie Eight Below hit number one on the movie list, The New York Times mag comes through with a great piece about the fantastic movies of the year. Provacative photos of all the big names...including my 2005 It-Girl, Michelle Williams, who gave great performances in both Brokeback and The Baxter.

i am hereby taking full credit for your "it-girl". you used to recoil whenever you saw her on the screen.

that simply is NOT true. it is true that i do not find her that attractive BUT i have always liked her acting (ok, except for maybe dawson's creek which i did not watch). i especially liked her in the baxter and continued to rave about it/her long after you expressed how underwhelmed you were with the film.

I just saw "Hustle and Flow" this past weekend (don't get out much): amazing. Terence Howard is now on my "I'll watch him read the phone book" list. P.S. Hoffman is another great one, in anything, even bad comedies... Thanks for the link, especially to the ZiYi Zhang photo. I am in very much in like with her...

And am I the only person on the planet who absolutely hated "Broken Flowers"?

Hoffman is GREAT. I almost added him to my list of dinner guests. I am in awe of his versatility as an actor.

I very much enjoyed Broken Flowers. I have a post somewhere way back when. I love Bill Murray. I also love those slow, silent movies. I reminded me of Lost In Translation which is one of my all time fave movies.

I've been somewhat skeptical of Hustle and Flow. I was very turned off by the preview and have been very annoyed at all the hype it is getting. However, maybe I have to rethink it.

More on "Hustle and Flow": it's a hip-hop "Rocky," but while predictable, still had strong performances, esp. Howard. He was even better in "Crash." The "pimp as hero" theme might turn some folks off. And you won't be able to get at least one of the songs out of your head for the rest of the day...

"Except for dawson's creek which I did not watch" Oh please Kristen...we are among friends...everytime I tried to turn that off at home you would pin me down and hit me with the remote to remind me again that we did not and I repeat, did NOT shut off that show...pacey is just too cute :)

PS...her hair is hot I bet you could get yours to do that ;)

Yeah...my hair would totally do that. In fact, it looks like that most mornings.
